THE “BER” MONTHS ARE HERE!

Mauricio Ramirez | 29 Apr, 2024 | 0 Comments | Return|

September, October, November and December. It has been a long hot summer and even though we are still in a heat wave, it is not too early to start thinking about fall car care.

We like to call these months the “rememBER” months. It is a great time of the year to remember to have the yearly maintenance done to your car. Here are a few tips and regular scheduled maintenances that you should have performed yearly to help keep your car in good running condition, and keep you prepared for the upcoming winter.

  1. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended services by mileage. Usually by 30, 60, 90 and 100 thousand miles, the manufacture recommends certain services such as inspection of belts, hoses, testing of the electrical system, transmission and coolant flushes and more. If you’re not sure if your car is in need of these services, don’t worry. Our knowledgeable staff at Rock Hill Automotive will be glad to walk you through it.
  2. Tire tread and pressure are important. Tire tread will give you added traction with the rain, sleet, and snow arrive. The proper tire pressure will give you the correct amount of tire to road contact. Don’t forget about checking the tire pressure in your spare tire as well. In most newer model vehicles this could also set off your Tire Pressure light indicating that you have a tire with low pressure.
  3. Make sure with your fall oil change that the correct oil is being used for your type of vehicle. Semi synthetic, full synthetic, high mileage or high performance oils are all specifically made for certain types of engines. Check with your Rock Hill Automotive Service Advisor to find out which one is best for your vehicle.
  4. Have all your fluids checked to be sure that they are clean and full. Changing any dirty fluids will keep your engine and drive train system working correctly.
  5. If you have a first aid kit in your car, make sure it is updated. Take out any expired supplies and restock with fresh ones. It is also a good idea to have an extra blanket just in case you do get stranded or lose heat.
  6. Inspect your jumper cables and other safety equipment (flares, safety triangles) to be sure that they are in the proper working order. It’s also a good idea to have an extra blanket in your car in case you are stranded without heat.

Be safe and rememBER, Rock Hill Automotive is always available to help you with any of your automotive needs!
