SO, WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SPARK PLUGS?

Mauricio Ramirez | 29 Apr, 2024 | 0 Comments | Return|

Webster’s definition – A device designed to fit in each cylinder of a gasoline-powered internal-combustion engine and to produce the electric spark for igniting the mixture of gasoline and air.

Or in my case…. something to make a really cool craft with!! Weld a couple of bolts on to it, some wire and you can create anything!

But seriously, spark plugs are in the combustion chamber of your engine. Their job is to send a little spark between two electrodes at the end of the plug which ignites the gasoline. The “little spark” can go off thousands of times per minute. Over time, and miles, the electrodes will wear away increasing the gap between them. When this happens, the spark becomes weak, and fuel doesn’t burn as well. You may notice your vehicle becoming “sluggish” or poor fuel economy.

When you go to replace the spark plugs in your vehicle, you should always use at least the grade of spark plug that originally came on your vehicle. This will ensure that you are getting the right amount of spark needed. Of course, you can always upgrade to a better spark plug for better durability and performance.

Talk to your Rock Hill Automotive Service advisor and they will help you determine what kind of “spark” is best for your vehicle.
